Alarming Florida Car Accident Statistics

In recent years, Florida has continued to rank among the states with the highest number of motor vehicle accidents in the country. With a growing population, heavy tourism, and increasing traffic congestion, accidents remain a serious concern across the state.

For many Florida residents, this is not surprising.

Seasonal tourism, population growth, and distracted driving continue to contribute to the high number of crashes each year. As more drivers take to the road, the risk of accidents, injuries, and fatalities remains significant.

Marissa Stockwell is an Experienced Injury Lawyer Committed to Keeping South Florida Roads Safe

For many people, driving a car, truck, or SUV is one of the most dangerous daily activities, even if it doesn’t always feel that way. In Florida, the risks are even higher, with more than 1,000 car accidents occurring on average every single day. Unfortunately, many of these crashes are caused by careless or negligent driving. At Stockwell Law, we are committed to helping individuals who have been injured in car accidents understand their rights and pursue the compensation they deserve.

Common Causes of Car Accidents and Injuries of Florida Drivers

Car accidents in South Florida often stem from preventable behaviors such as texting while driving, alcohol use, and general distracted driving. With heavy traffic and a constant flow of tourists unfamiliar with local roads, even a moment of inattention can lead to serious collisions. Drivers who text or use their phones take their eyes off the road, while alcohol impairs reaction time and decision-making, significantly increasing the risk of accidents. Other distractions, such as adjusting navigation, eating, or interacting with passengers, also contribute to crashes throughout the region. These factors, combined with congestion and fast-paced driving conditions, make South Florida one of the more high-risk areas for motor vehicle accidents.
